TRENDING WARDROBE CONCEPTS FOR YOUR HOME INTERIORS
For your bedrooms, what kind of wardrobe do you prefer? What type of wardrobe do you want? Do you prefer single door wardrobes, sliding door wardrobes, or custom made wardrobes with storage? Need help choosing the right wardrobe for your bedroom? Here's a guide to the different wardrobe options and the ideal measurements for each.
WARDROBES WITH SLIDING DOORS
Sliding wardrobes are a great option for the smaller home, creating plenty of open space. As the doors glide on a track, there is no impediment to foot traffic or an obstructed view in the room - just a sleek and modern look. For the system to work properly, it's recommended that the wardrobe be at least 26 inches deep, with two inches allocated for a running track which prevents clothes from snagging. The minimum length should come in around seven feet while each panel itself should measure about 3.5 feet. For typical ceiling heights (between 250-270cm), 200-250 cm is suggested for the wardrobe's height; though custom-built models that reach up to 270cm are also available.
WARDROBES WITH HINGES
There are two conventional wardrobe options: the hinged wardrobe, which has a simple design and opens with a hinged door. One of the major drawbacks of hinged wardrobes is that they take up space while opening outwards, making them a constraint in smaller spaces. A hinged wardrobe has a standard depth of 24 inches. The height of the wardrobe cabinets should, however, be at least 84 inches in order to hang clothes. The maximum amount of space can be used to create a full-length wardrobe from floor to ceiling.
WARDROBES WITH AN OPEN CONCEPT
With its open shelving and clothing rails, open wardrobes may not fit the ideal wardrobe concept, but they can help you display the clothes you love. They are great for people with limited foot space, making it easily accessible.
WARDROBES THAT STAND ALONE
Free-standing wardrobes are renowned for their style and practicality. They are an ideal choice for any homeowner as they offer a wide range of customization possibilities. These wardrobes can be a great addition to bedrooms without existing storage or homes that cannot undergo a renovation due to space or other considerations. With different sizes available, these wardrobe come primarily in wood finish but also have glass and metal options available. Additionally, they can be effortlessly moved from one place to another.
CLOSET WITH A WALK-IN DOOR
Walk-in wardrobes bring a touch of luxury to any bedroom. Their versatile shelving means they are perfect for rooms with significant spare space, and you should give yourself at least 54-60 inches of clearance if you have them on opposing sides, and 3ft if there is only one. That way you'll find it easy to make use of the wardrobe whichever side it's on.
