HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT CURTAINS FOR YOUR HOME INTERIORS

As any decorator says, curtains make a room. When it comes to curtains, it's all about color and fabric, length and trim, custom or off the shelf. With so many decisions, it's easy to get overwhelmed

COLOR & FABRIC

Fabric is one of the basic factors in choosing curtains. This is because the material determines the performance and durability of the curtain. If it is too heavy, it may not fold cleanly when drawn, or if it is too light, it may not fold properly. Working on a large sample of at least 2 meters as a small piece may not show the actual coverage of the fabric. Also, keep in mind that sunlight fades fabrics over time, so bright colors will fade faster if the room has a lot of light, so it's wise to avoid them.

Some fabrics help to prevent cold. Many hotels use suede, velvet, tapestry or tweed. This isbecause their weight helps block light and trap heat. Interlining (the fabric that is placed between the lining and the face fabric) also helps to increase the life of the curtain.

LENGTH & LINING

Before you get out your tape measure, decide how high you want your curtains to be above the window. By hanging the panel higher than the window, it gives a sense of height to the room. If you want the drapes to extend slightly to the floor for a more traditional look, add 2 to 3 inches of length. For a clean, modern look, leave the panels flush with the floor.

When measuring the window width, please add 4-8 inches on each side and double the total to make sure the curtain is full. If you're using blinds to block out sunlight, a few extra inches around the window sill will also help block light creep.

WINDOW TREATMENT

Custom window treatments have many benefits. You can customize the dimensions to fit your window size and create a custom look like a perfectly tailored suit. Custom panels have endless design options, from materials to header styles. However, these options offer a significant price difference compared to off-the-shelf curtain panels.

WASHING MACHINE V/S DRY CLEANING

Decide if you want to buy dry clean only curtains or machine washable curtains. In the long run, it will save you time and money. Note that trying to wash them can ruin your quality curtains.

ACCESSORIES

Use curtain ties to improve the appearance of curtains. Many curtain accessories are available. Elastics and straps can be used to improve the decorative appearance of curtains. Add curtains that are usually placed above the windows. Additionally, use the original pullback curtain technique for a chic and sophisticated look.
