A GUIDE ON HOW TO HANG CURTAINS LIKE AN INTERIOR DESIGNER

A beautiful set of curtains can transform a room from boring to beautiful in the blink of an eye. Even the prettiest curtains won't make a room if they're not hung correctly. Before installing the fabric, make sure you know how to hang them correctly.

There are many ways to hang curtains, that can affect the overall quality of the space or the way it is installed. For example, hanging longer and wider curtains from the window will make the room and the window appear larger. Floor-length curtains give the room a beautiful look, while bay window curtains are more suitable for the kitchen or bedroom. One of the hardest things about curtains is knowing where to put the rod. The style of the window varies according to many factors such as curtain type and ceiling height.Consider all these factors when planning and installing your curtains

CALCULATE THE HEIGHT AND WIDTH OF THE CURTAIN.

HEIGHT

Leave about 4 to 6 inches above the window for the hardware, at least 2 inches from top of window to curtain, regardless of ceiling height. Install curtains close to the ceiling to create the illusion of height. This is especially important if the ceiling of the room is low. Use the same rule when the window is curved.

WIDTH

Use these instructions to make curtains in a wide pattern and create the illusion of a large window:

Pattern is the distance from the window frame to the end of the curtain on either side of the window (excluding the plastic trim). Let it be 4 by 10 inches. Usually the curtains will be open during the day, so make sure the metal curtains extend 1-3 inches on either side of the interior window. Extend the bar 5 inches beyond the window frame to create the illusion of a wide window.

CURTAIN DIMENSIONS

Usually the best curtain is long enough to touch the ground. Consider adding a few inches of curtains to the floor for a streamlined look. Do not let curtains hang from the floor. The ceiling appeared lower as they stood a few inches above the ground. The width of the panels must be at least twice the width of the window so that the curtains are fully visible. If you have two panels, each should be equal to the width of the window. Some fabrics sag differently than others; heavier fabrics will need more, while heavier fabrics will need less. The nude curtains touch the wooden floor next to the vanity

CURTAIN FITTING

Curtain hardware is often the final step in bringing the room together and allows you to complete the room's style. Curtain rods and crowns must be fabric layered. Consider heavier fabrics like velvet and chenille on large, slightly beautiful straws, while cotton and sheer fabrics will work best on light, delicate straws. The hardware should complete the room. If plexiglass or oiled bronze is used elsewhere in the room, connect it to the hardware section. Consider the height of the end of the curtain to match the beauty of the room.
